How does Microdermabrasion work?
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive treatment that helps to restore a youthful glow to the skin by gently removing the outer layer of your skin, including dull, dead skin cells. Think of it as a very gentle form of sanding - It works by blowing fine crystals onto the skin and sucking away the thicker, uneven outer layer, revealing fresher-looking skin below. The crystals are gently worked into your skin using a handheld device operated by a skincare expert in-clinic. This process encourages circulation and skin cell renewal and is used to treat skin discolouration, pigmentation, sun damage and even stretch marks! It’s also a very effective treatment for fine scars, including acne scars.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a skin exfoliation treatment which uses fine crystals that are blown onto the skin’s surface under pressure and suctioned away simultaneously. This process encourages circulation and skin cell renewal. Microdermabrasion can also help to minimise the appearance of enlarged pores and de-congest the skin. A glycolic peel is the perfect add on to boost your microdermabrasion results.
What does Microdermabrasion do?
Microdermabrasion removes dead skin cells on the surface of your skin and can help reduce the appearance of large pores and clear congested skin to reveal fresher looking skin.
What does Microdermabrasion treatment feel like?
You might experience a slight discomfort but the treatment doesn’t hurt. Minor redness and a ‘tender’ feeling immediately after a Microdermabrasion is normal, but these sensations will go away on their own.
How long does Microdermabrasion take?
Microdermabrasion is one of our Skin Conditioning treatment options at Caci. These appointments take 30 minutes.
Is Microdermabrasion suitable for me?
Microdermabrasion is suitable for most skin types.
When will I see results after a Microdermabrasion treatment?
You will notice your skin feels refreshed immediately after each microdermabrasion treatment. Your skin will have a more youthful glow and look more vibrant right after the treatment. A few weeks after the treatment, you may notice your skin tone and texture improving as the skin cells produce more collagen. This collagen production also helps to plump up the skin and your depressed acne scars. Because your skin renews on about a 30-day cycle, you may begin to see a decline in the effects of the treatment after this length of time post-treatment. Many of our customers see excellent results with a personalised skincare plan that offers regular microdermabrasion treatments alongside other conditioning treatments. For best results, we recommend ongoing skin conditioning treatments to keep your skin looking and feeling its best.
Does Microdermabrasion work for blemishes, blackheads and acne?
By stimulating cell turnover, Microdermabrasion can help improve skin texture - and as a result, it can also help reduce the appearance of acne scarring, refine your pores, and help improve blemishes. However, for active acne, we recommend coming in for afree consultationto get personalised advice on the treatments that would best suit you.
