How does Hydradermabrasion work?

Hydradermabrasion, also known as “hydro microdermabrasion”, is an advanced exfoliating treatment that uses a diamond tip and suction to gently remove dead skin cells. Hydradermabrasion is excellent at pulling out skin congestion and excess sebum while hydrating the skin through our active hydrating solution using electroporation. Electroporation helps the hydrating solution penetrate deeper into the skin resulting in that instant glow!

Treatment benefits

Clearing congested skin

Hydradermabrasion is great at clearing congested skin as it is an advanced exfoliating treatment that is excellent at pulling out skin congestion and unclog and trapped sebum.

Hydrating dry skin

Hydradermabrasion is a great hydrating treatment as it uses electroporation to help our hydrating solution penetrate deeper into the skin. This is great to help hydrate any dryness to the skin and your skin will feel decongested, smooth and hydrated after treatment.

Boosting cell turnover for healthy skin

Hydradermabrasion is great for boosting cell turnover by removing excess sebum and dead cells on the skin’s surface.

Calming redness

Electroporation is used while exfoliating to infuse an active detox solution that calms redness, kills bacteria and hydrates for healthier-looking skin.

Hydradermabrasion Vs Microdermabrasion

Hydradermabrasion is not as aggressive as microdermabrasion at removing dead skin cells. Hydradermabrasion uses a diamond tip and suction to gently remove dead skin cells. However, due to the Hydradermabrasion’s suction, it is excellent at pulling out skin congestion and excess sebum. Unlike microdermabrasion, hydradermabrasion is great at hydrating the skin through its active Hydrating solution using electroporation and is also excellent for all skin types as well as delicate skin types.

Microdermabrasion is an excellent treatment for exfoliation and boosting cell turn-over but is not considered a hydrating treatment. At Caci, we offer both microdermabrasion and hydradermabrasion treatments for different reasons. Your skincare expert can help you decide in a free consultation which treatment is best for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hydradermabrasion?

Hydradermabrasion is an advanced exfoliating treatment that deeply cleanses, exfoliates and stimulates the skin through an active detox solution, electroporation, suction and a diamond exfoliating tip. The treatment is non-invasive and helps to resurface the skin while deeply hydrating and replenishing the skin below.

How does hydradermabrasion work?

Hydradermabrasion is a treatment that combines exfoliation using a diamond tip, suction (clear those pores!) to remove dead skin cells and electroporation. Electroporation gently pulses electric currents through the skin to deeply penetrate our Skinsmiths detox solution meaning a better absorption of skin-boosting ingredients.

What is the difference between hydradermabrasion and microdermabrasion?

Hydradermabrasion is not as aggressive as microdermabrasion at removing dead skin cells but it is still an effective way of pulling out skin congestion and excess sebum. Hydradermabrasion uses serums along with a vaccum-based abrasion tip to remove dead skin and penetrate serums deep into the skin, while microdermabrasion is a dry treatment that gently sands your skin, removing the thicker uneven outer layer. While both remove dead skin cells, Hydradermabrasion is considered more hydrating, while microdermabrasion is purely exfoliating.

How long does hydradermabrasion take?

A hydradermabrasion treatment or hydrafacial at Caci is generally 30 minutes.

Is hydradermabrasion suitable for me?

Hydradermabrasion treatments are suitable for most people. The intensity of the treatment and exfoliation can be adjusted making it safe for a wide range of skin types. A hydrafacial may not be recommended if you have an active rash or a rosacea flare up and the skin is more sensitive than normal.

How much does hydradermabrasion cost?

A casual hydradermabrasion treatment is $135.Customers on a Reformaskin membership save on every treatment – starting from $28 per week on our payment plan.

Does hydradermabrasion work for blemishes, blackheads and acne?

Hydradermabrasion is great for blemishes, blackheads and acne as it deeply cleanses and exfoliates the skin by removing excess dead cells on the surface of the skin that can cause clogged pores, congestion and dull skin.

What does hydradermabrasion feel like?

Hydradermabrasion is a gentle exfoliation that clears pores and feels soothing and cooling thanks to our Detox solution. When the electroporation function is selected, causing electric currents to gently pulse product deeper into the skin, you may feel a slight tingling feeling, with some customers experiencing a twitching sensation causing movement to some muscles. This is normal, and can some times feel like someone is gently tapping your head!

When can I expect to see results from hydradermabrasion?

You will notice that your skin feels clean, glowing and hydrated immediately after each treatment. At Caci we recommend ongoing Skin Conditioning treatments to keep your skin looking and feeling its best. It’s just like eating healthily and moving your body regularly – your skin health needs ongoing love and attention. We make regular treatments easy on our Skin Health Membership; Reformaskin.

Post Treatment Advice

After a hydradermabrasion treatment, your skin may be pink or even red – this is normal and shows us that the treatment is working! This may last from a few minutes up to 24 hours, everyone is different. For some it can feel like a mild sun or wind burn.

Some people experience mild flakiness as we have been removing all those dead skin cells.

Make sure to apply SPF protection daily. If you have sensitive skin, do not try any new product for 2-3 days post treatment.

Avoid taking anti-inflammatory medications, such as Aspirin or Ibuprofen (unless prescribed by your Doctor) for 3 days post treatment.

We recommend using a mineral makeup afterwards if you feel you need it.

As always, get in touch with your clinic if you have any concerns or questions at all.
