#TeamCaci: Meet Bernadette, owner of Caci Wynyard Quarter

Can you tell us about your career journey to date?

I have now been in the industry for 13+ years. I graduated with an internationally recognized beauty therapy diploma in 2011 and I joined Caci in 2013. I started as a junior skin therapist and progressed through to a senior skin therapist and dabbled in the treatment advisor role in the 5 1/2 years at Caci Pukekohe. I then moved to Caci Ponsonby for another 5+ years, where I was Manager and later also treatment advisor. I had a great mentor (Owner Louise) who gave me the amazing opportunity to takeover ownership of Caci Wynyard Quarter in March of 2024.

How long have you owned Wynyard Quarter?

8 months, which has flown by!

What attracted you to own a clinic of your own after working in clinics for so long?

I absolutely loved the team and the customers of Ponsonby but I felt like I had exhausted all avenues and needed a new challenge.

I know the brand inside and out, and I am very hard working and driven, so naturally it was the next step for me.

What does it mean to be a Treatment Provider-led clinic?

I believe it is so powerful. For results, for customer experience, for knowledge and training within the clinic. Customers love the expertise and knowledge. Knowing they can get this from all staff in clinic, means they feel like they can trust us and know that they are in very safe hands.

What advice do you have for other Treatment Providers who may be interested in owning a Caci clinic?

If you want it, work hard and go for it, continue goal setting and make sure you voice these along the way! Find an owner that will help to get you to where you want to go. I was lucky enough to have this in both the clinics that I worked in. I was always guided but challenged and pushed out of my comfort zone, which I am so grateful for. They have definitely shaped the person and manager/treatment provider that I am today.

You recently added the title of Mum to your list of achievements – how do you juggle motherhood, business ownership and treating customers?

It takes a village! Number one would be having a very, very supportive Fiancee. Along with a great team and accountant, and understanding customers.

It is a juggle, I just have to be organized. I have learnt to let go and know that I cannot get everything done in one go (like I used to love), and just prioritise. The Mini Caci model is great, I think it’s the perfect size for one starting a family – as long as you have the support network in place. Plus I have been blessed with a very good little boy!

What is your favourite Caci treatment?

Injectables! Both antiwrinkle and dermal filler. The somewhat instant results and transformation - what this can do for ones self esteem is incredible.
